2025 Conference to Combat Human Trafficking: Through Research and Technlogy

2025 CONFERENCE TO COMBAT HUMAN TRAFFICKING

The Center of Research Excellence to Counter Human Trafficking (CRECHT), an element of the Borders, Trade, and Immigration Institute (BTI Institute), a Department of Homeland Security Center of Excellence, in partnership with the Center for Immigration Studies, and the Harris County Independent School District, will host the fourth annual “Conference to Combat Human Trafficking: Research and Technology”.

Date/Time. July 22–24, 2025, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Location. Harris County Independent School District Education Conference Center, 6300 Irvington Boulevard, Houston, Texas 77022. Parking is free and available at the Conference Center.

Purpose. The purpose of the conference is two-fold:

  1. To present new research and innovative technologies that may be used in efforts to halt human trafficking; and
  2. To identify areas for future research and to develop viable solutions through technologies and enhanced capabilities to counter human trafficking and smuggling.

Call for Speakers and Presentations. The BTI Institute has issued a “Call for Speakers and Presentations” requesting presentations on research impacting efforts to combat human trafficking and on emerging technologies and/or concepts that may be used to assist law enforcement, health services, and non-governmental agencies in their efforts.

Registration. Registration to the Conference will open on September 1, 2024. The cost of registration is $35 (nonrefundable) per person. Interested personnel must register in advance by July 1, 2025.

Lodging Options

The conference is open to law enforcement, Health and Human Services, intelligence analysts, researchers, Non-Government Agencies involved in combating human trafficking, and solution providers.

The Conference is a joint effort involving the Borders, Trade, and Immigration Institute at the University of Houston, the Center for Immigration Studies, and the following strategic partners: The Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the U.S. Marshals Service, the Office of the Attorney General for the State of Texas, the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Houston Police Department, and the Harris County Department of Education.
